Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery is my very favorite book in the world! I have read it countless times, and yet I never get tired of it. When you open this book, you step into the world of Anne Shirley, which is filled with many loving people, and some difficult ones too. Anne is an orphan girl, her imagination keeps her company in hard times. She is thrilled when she is told that she will go and live with the Cuthberts’ unmarried siblings who are getting on in years; Matthew and Marilla, who live on Prince Edward Island. The Cuthberts are expecting to get a boy, who can help Matthew with the chores. But instead they get Anne, who can talk your ear completely off, imagine ridiculous things that are of no help, and ruins things in the kitchen constantly because she gets caught up in her thoughts. Throughout the entire book there are wonderful nuggets of timeless and useful advice. Anne of Green Gables is the first of an eight-book series. You will always remember this book fondly, it is truly a book to be treasured.

Anne who insists on people spelling her name with an E, and who finds herself in a new scrape every day, and who comforts herself by saying “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet.” This is the Anne that I love.” —Millie J.
