Poem
October 12, 2026Dancing Branches
When the wind sweeps through the grove of trees
And sets them to dancing
The Ash tree shakes and swings,
With joy and laughter.
The young saplings frolic and flit,
Carefree and innocently.
The old blue oaks quiver and whisper,
Always in a titter.
The ancient Valley oaks sway,
Remembering the dance of their youth.
The Mulberry flutters at its chance,
Ingoring the other tree's teasing glance.
The eucalyptus bends and dips,
Certain that it will not trip.
The pine leans, quiet in the corner,
As if it dreams of dancing.
And the others, live oaks, birch trees, poplars and more,
Wave their branches in a thundering 'encore!'
Maybe one day they'll wish to
Shake and swing
Frolic and flit
Quiver and whisper
Sway and flutter
Bend, dip, and lean
Maybe that is their dream.
Perhaps, one day they'll all join the dance,
For as long as the wind blows,
They'll always have the chance.
